As the title suggests, I like to bike. I ride a CervĂ©lo Soloist Team road bike, which I race on occasion. That’s my baby up on the left hand side of the banner
On the right is my old (and first) road bike, which is now in bike heaven
Living in Canada, it’s hard to stay motivated during the long, snowy winters so I cross train by skating. That means that I don’t train formally for cycling during the winter, instead I focus on skating and having fun – which is key to staying focused. In the past, my training schedule has looked like this:
Summer:
Monday: Easy active recovery ~ 1 hour
Tuesday: Local races ~ 1 hour
Wednesday: Long Steady Distance, or LSD ~ 2 to 2.5 hours
Thursday: Intervals (Maximum Aerobic Power) ~1 hour
Friday: Off
Saturday: Activation – a good warm up followed by a few sprints to get the muscles fired up and ready to race ~ 1 hour
Sunday: Race ~3 hours
Winter:
Monday to Friday: Skating in the evenings
2-3 times per week: Strength training
2-3 times per week: Aerobic capacity training
This year, I’ve dropped my coach and moved away from more formal training. I still do most of the same kinds of training, just less structured – I do what I want, when I want to. I plan on racing less and enjoying the social aspect of riding this summer because serious training is not only hard physically, it can also be emotionally draining. It’s a bit scary to make these changes, especially not having a coach, so I started this blog to help keep me accountable. It mainly focuses on food because that’s where my biggest weaknesses are. I love food!
*Edit*
Since I can’t seem to keep up with my original style of blogging, I’ve decided to switch to less frequent posts. I will continue to post about my training and eating, just not in as much detail.

I just found you by searching for myself online! So glad I did – I am just starting to ride a bike for “sport” instead of fun (triathlons here i come!) so I have been reading all your blogs about biking… what a wonderful site! thanks!

Hi,
Was looking for a copy of the recipe “Rotini
Bopper” and saw that you have access to it from the crazy plates cookbook. Do you think you could send me the recipe? I would love to try it. I have heard different people mention it and decided I must try it myself. Also while I was searching your web I came across a pic of Gringos Star. That looks scrumptous too, would you mind sharing that one as well? Would be great…
Thanks from a girl who loves to try new things in canada

Hey! I just found your blog, I am strictly an indoor cycler at the moment, but I fell in love with it about a year ago. I would love to eventually take my hobby out-of-doors! great site!
