Nooooooooooo, it’s snowing! Real snow too, not just a couple of flakes
This is what I woke up to this morning:

Isn’t that a lovely view I have from my bedroom window? I’m so sick of winter, I think I’ll stay home as much as possiblle today!
Back on topic, I had another bowl of granola for bedtime snack last night, so that’s been put away indefinitely. It will be used only for a treat or topping and not as a meal or a snack from now on. Although I practiced portion control with each bowl yesterday, I know that some other food groups must have suffered, being replaced by granola. It’s also not filling at all (to me anyway).
I decided to have a nice lazy Saturday morning, sitting around in my pj’s eating oatmeal pancakes.

I made my version of Kath’s oatmeal pancakes using large flake (old fashioned) oats that I ground into a powder (almost) in my food processor. I left it with a few larger pieces for texture, but no whole flakes. Here’s what I used:
- 35 grams oats, ground (no idea how much this measured, sorry)
- 50 grams egg substitute (1/4 cup?)
- 50 grams banana, mashed (about half a banana)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
I just mixed it all together and plopped them into the pan – so easy and good! On the side, I had a serving of plain yogurt to get some dairy in. I still think the banana adds so much to these pancakes, it makes them nice and moist and sweet. I ate some of these plain and some dipped in the yogurt since I didn’t have or want any syrup.
Hereès my snack that I’ll be sipping throughout the morning:

A homemade latte, heavy on the foam! I made it with skim milk and no sweeteners. I’m still getting used to coffee without sugar, but I find if I make it a latte it tastes much better.
On a final note, does anyone have any suggestions about what they would like to see on the blog? I’m open to all requests, as long as they are realistic for me to try

For making oats, that is!
This morning, since I had no class, I slept in a bit and tried Kath’s Whipped Banana Oatmeal on the stovetop for a change. It was amazing, so creamy and delicious! I honestly didn’t beleive there ws that much of a difference between this and the microwave until I tried this. Wow!
With a café au lait:

Sorry the photo looks so blah today, it’s a bit washed out because I’m sitting next to the window enjoying the sunshine that’s pouring in!
On a side note, I had another snack when I got home last night: cheese! It was about 1.5 oz of low fat jalapeno cheese, but I almost forgot a photo so there’s only a bite left!

Now I’m off to the grocery store, my fridge is bare!

Good morning!
Well, I finally got to sleep last night at a decent hour and I slept like a log. It was wonderful but I feel more tired this morning! I know this usually happens to me while I’m “catching up” though, so in a couple of days I will feel better if I keep sleeping well.
I had some banana oatmeal this morning. I’m taking advantage of the weather still being cool to enjoy a warm breakfast since I probably won’t be in the mood in a month or two.

A few weeks ago I did a breakfast experiment. I know a lot of people like to eat a bigger breakfast and include more healthy fat and protein by adding nuts or nut butters, so I gave it a try. I wanted to really give this a chance, so my experiment lasted for a few weeks. The result? I prefer to eat a smaller breakfast and then a snack or early lunch a few hours later. I find that no matter what I eat, I’m hungry within 3 hours (unless I eat junk, then I’m hungry a lot sooner!) This applies to all my meals, not just breakfast. More proof that everyone is different I guess
I’m goung to post my lunch now too because it’s all packed up and ready to go. I don’t want to carry my camera around with me at school all day because I’m not all that careful (sometimes I drop my bag on the desk without thinking!) I don’t want a broken camera! It’s just leftovers from last night, nothing too exciting to see… but exciting to eat

See you at suppertime!

I’m definitely feeling the effects of too much good food yesterday! I woke up this morning feeling a bit queezy so I started off my day like this:

Which was also accompanied by this:

Okay, I didn’t drink all that before breakfast. It’s probably not the best idea to fill my belly too much at any one time today, so I’m still working on the fluids. Slow and steady wins the race, right?
Once I was hydrated, I felt a bit more human, so I decided to get started on breakfast. I had a hankering for some nice, creamy banana oatmeal. I decided to measure things out this morning and post my oatmeal techniques in my new recipe section. In the previous post, I posted my super easy weekday oatmeal technique, which I used today since I wasn’t feeling great.

This really hit the spot and I feel back to my old self now, except that I still feel like my stomach is huge today
Since it’s already almost 1PM, I think it’s safe to say lunch and supper will be delayed a bit! I think I’ll post them both this evening.

I am so tired this morning. I’ve been having so much trouble sleeping lately, it was 3AM before I finally got to sleep last night. My alarm went off at 7 to go to the gym but I just rolled over and went back to sleep until 9, when I finally pulled my tired body from bed. I think I could have slept all morning if I wasn’t concerned with sleeping tonight!
Yesterday when I made my breakfast, I made two servings of banana oatbran and stuck the other in the fridge, so this morning I just popped that in the microwave with a splash of milk. I sprinkled a few (5 grams) toasted peanuts on top to add a bit of fat and hopefully hold me over a bit longer. Sorry, I took the photo before I decided on the nuts!

I’m going to try to get in a good hard workout today to tire me out for tonight, think it will help? I’m pretty sure my lack of sleep isn’t caused by lack of tiredness but I’m at the point where I’m getting desperate! I would never take anything to help me sleep though, not even herbal.
